INTERNATIONAL DAY

CULTUR - CIVILISATION

INTERNATIONAL DAY

Ada Lovelace Day is an international day of blogging aimed at

drawing attention to women who excel in technology. Falling on 24th

March, this day highlights the fact that women's contributions in this

world often go unacknowledged.

Born in 1815, Lovelace is considered the first ever programmer. She

earned this accolade for writing a description of Charles Babbage's

early mechanical general-purpose computer, the analytical engine, a

task which involved the manipulation of symbols according to rules.

She also foresaw the possibility of computers to go beyond mere

calculation while those around her remained fixed on this capability.
